Through the lens

The world is a lot weirder up close

That grey sock? It's black and white threads twisted together. Salt? Tiny glassy cubes. Every fingerprint is a maze. Kids see it all, live on the screen.

The honest number

Lots of kids' microscopes say "1000x". We measured ours and tell you the real number. It's plenty for leaf veins, threads, crystals, bug legs and coin details. It won't show bacteria or cells: for that, you need a lab microscope.

First missions

"But what do I look at?"

Here are 12 first discoveries to hunt for at home and outside. Tick them off as you find them.

discovered

Every walk becomes an expedition

It fits in a pocket and needs no phone, tablet or Wi-Fi. Wherever they are, there's something new to look at.

The garden

Bugs, petals, soil and the underside of every leaf.

Walks and trips

Pine cones, bark and sand from wherever you go.

School projects

Snap photos of what they find for show-and-tell.

Rainy days

The kitchen cupboard turns into a science lab.

Fair warning: the grown-ups will want a turn too.

Not another screen. Not a lab kit.

Quick start

Exploring in under a minute

No setup, no app. Here's the whole manual, in big letters.

  1. 1

    Peel the film

Remove the protective film from the lens cover. A cloudy screen usually means it's still on.

  2. 2

    Charge it up

Plug in the USB cable until the light shows full, about 2 hours.

  3. 3

    Rest and focus

Rest it on the object, then turn the side wheel slowly until the picture goes sharp.

  4. 4

    Snap it

Press the camera button once to save a photo. Hold the menu button to see your pictures.

Explorer tip: lift the microscope to move it, rather than sliding it across stone or pavement. It keeps the lens cover scratch-free.

"We gave this to our 7-year-old for Christmas and it's the toy she still talks about three months later. She's photographed everything in the house and made a whole 'science journal' from the printouts."

Outdoors
"Took it on our camping trip. Best thing we packed. My son spent two hours examining bark, bugs and stones. He's asked to bring it on every walk since."

The grown-ups too
"I bought it for my 8-year-old but I'll admit I've used it more than he has. The salt crystal photo is genuinely stunning. Brilliant product."

Questions parents ask

What age is it for?

Best from about 6 years. Turning the focus wheel takes a little patience, so younger children (4–5) enjoy it most with a grown-up helping. Older kids, teens and adults love it too.

How much does it really magnify?

About 60x on screen. That is enough to see leaf veins, fabric threads, crystals, bug legs and fingerprint ridges clearly. It cannot show bacteria or cells, which need a lab microscope.

Do I need a memory card?

Not to start. It stores about 50 photos on its own. A microSD card (up to 32GB) is needed for videos and for moving photos to a computer, which is why we offer one as an add-on.

How long does the battery last?

Around 2 hours of use per charge, and it recharges by USB in about 2 hours.

Do I need a phone or tablet?

No. The screen is built in, so there is no app, no Wi-Fi and no account.

What if my child doesn't love it?

Full refund within 30 days, no questions asked. Just email us at hello@floristoys.com and we'll sort it out same day.
